Ortisei town centre in the Italian Dolomites is famous for its woodcarvings and the lovely pedestrian area. It also has an abundance of great shops and cafés. It is an idyllic part of Val Gardena, and is a wonderful place for a walking holiday.
We have been visiting Ortisei for many years and I cannot believe how fast it comes around, it is now only four weeks until we will be there once more. Ortisei boasts some majestic Dolomite rock and the scenery is awesome, so running our Dolomite walking holidays from here was never in doubt.
Choosing the right hotel was the hardest part as the standard of food and cleanliness everywhere is first class. A week’s stay at the Hotel Digon made our minds up very quickly. Daniel Stufflesser and his family run the hotel. The standard of service, accommodation and food they offer is better than anything we have ever experienced anywhere. New guests to the Dolomites are so impressed by the scenery, the hotel and staff; it all adds up to an amazing walking week.
