Last year, we had the great pleasure of returning to the mountain mecca of Chamonix, France, for our Alps all-inclusive walking holidays. We were also keen to watch 2,000+ trail runners for the steep and amazing Mont Blanc Marathon. This challenging 42k trail run is breath-taking (in more ways than one). Thanks to great weather, camaraderie, and a chance to witness some world-class performances, it exceeded all our expectations as always!
Chamonix is Our Home from Home
Words fail to capture the magical aura that exudes from Chamonix, and ever since our first visit, we have felt its gravitational pull. There’s a deep familiarity to this place that fits our soul like a missing puzzle piece, and from the moment we arrive at Chalet Shiraz we feel instantly at home.
Every year we watch the Mont Blanc Marathon, the race starts from the centre of Chamonix. Runners quickly join a trail path taking them up the mountain via some beautiful villages such as Montroc, Buet and Vallorcine, near the Swiss border. These are all places we take our guests walking in the summer.
The Mont-Blanc Marathon continues up the mountain following scenic routes and through villages too numerous to mention. Highlights include the Tour glacier, the village of Aiguilles Rouges massif and the amazing views from the finish line at Planpraz.
We love running our French Alps walking holidays from the awesome town and to be able to watch the Mont Blanc Marathon is a real bonus.
