This body recommends increasing physical activity for health. In physiotherapy and rehabilitation, physical activity is said to be beneficial for many clinical conditions.
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy recognises the important role of physiotherapists in promoting physical activity; for example in reducing obesity. However, many people are not active enough, and do not meet the minimum recommended levels of physical activity.
Walking is a simple and easy form of physical activity that is suitable for most people. We firmly believe that walking is the easiest way for many people to meet recommended physical activity levels.

You can use activity monitors to measure how much you walk, simply by counting your steps taken.
They can be an important motivational tool, encouraging us to be active, and allowing us to set goals and monitor how we do. Many cheap and easy to use pedometers and activity monitors are available to buy.
