Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is spectacularly situated in the French Alps and is close to the borders of Switzerland and Italy. It is a place renowned for its alpine skiing as well as summer walking.
You’ll find Chamonix Town located at the base of Mont Blanc, the highest summit in the Alps. Visitors to the valley can take cable cars up several nearby peaks all of which have spectacular panoramic views. The cable cars are open all year round and can take you to the peaks of the Aiguille du Midi, Pointe Helbronner on the Italian border and Le Brévent.
We have been using the Mont Blanc area as a base for our French Alps walking holidays for many years. You’ll find so many great walks in the surrounding area and even if you are a non-walker, there is so much to do and see.
Chamonix itself boasts over 100 restaurants and many more cafes and coffee shops, and don’t forget the ice cream. Visitors can choose from many cuisines on offer from traditional Savoyard food (raclette, fondue and tartiflette) to Italian, Chinese and Indian.
Our guests always love our walking holidays in the Alps in the months of June and July. We choose this time as most of the winter snow has receded and the climate is usually good for walking. There is also a chance you’ll see Marmot, Chamois or Ibex as well as an abundance of wild flowers.
